A BLOOMING CITY

Without the volunteers of Hereford in Bloom, the city centre flower beds and planters would be full of weeds and litter, abandoned by Herefordshire Council. The Bloom volunteers took over and visitors to Hereford are now welcomed by outstanding displays of flowers and shrubs – winners of the Gold medal in the annual Britain in Bloom competition. Lions are delighted to sponsor annually several floral planters in the city centre to help save its Civic Pride.Community Support details are here

HOSPITAL RADIO

In 1972, Hereford Lions and the County Youth Service set up Hospital Radio, and since those early days the station has grown. It has an active membership of 40 volunteers who come from all walks of life, and give up their spare time, to assist in developing programming for the patients, collecting requests and raising money to help the station stay on air.
The Club has continued to assist Hospital Radio by supporting the fees that enable former patients, and those who undertaking care at home to listen in the comfort of their own homes.
Looking into the future, Hospital Radio is looking to attend many local events, and broadcast these back to the Hospital. www.hhr.org.uk
